Today I tried on 4 more luxury watches, and every time I get the same boring result. Just get a PRX. And you know what? Maybe I will! But that’s not the point, as usual for these posts all photos are from me, and not very good.
The IWC Portofino is a pretty decent dress watch, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the Portugieser I tried on last time. It still felt nice, but it was missing something. Maybe without the date window it would look nicer.
Of all the heritage watch brands, Tudor might be one of my most respected today. I didn’t get to try on the 54 yet, maybe in a few months, but I did get to try on the 58, and this watch did not disappoint. I love the vintage look and while it’s still a bit large for my wrists, I would happily wear this watch around as a daily wear.
Finally, I got to try on two Cartiers, actually they were the first two watches I tried on, but I wanted to save best for last. I wish Cartiers were a bit cheaper because I truly want to route for the brand. The Ballon is one of my favorite quirky designs that feels so perfect and the Santos fit my wrist perfectly. All this to say, quirky in your face to traditional watch brand designs are great, but the message only gets through when your prices aren’t outrageous.
I would happily wear any one of these watches, sure, but the saga continues and I still don’t have a Tissot PRX.
